The Spanish car manufacturer SEAT conjures up images of automobile innovation and high quality engineering. Although the business was active in the 1940's it wasn't until 1950 that a partnership with Italian car maker FIAT enabled the first model to be built under licence in Spain.
The alliance with Fiat helped the SEAT car company to grow in its home market, opening a new distribution network and a number of dealerships. Exports followed during the 1960's with the successful 600, 850 and 1500 models.
It wasn't until the 1970's that SEAT branding started to be regularly seen on the vehicles. Whilst the licence agreements with Fiat enabled SEAT to move forward as an organisation, the relationship was always very fragile. Today SEAT operates under the stewardship and control of Volkswagen, which has in the opinion of many enthusiasts done a great job of moving SEAT into the 21st century.
Although there is no specific SEAT car insurance cover available from the manufacturer, their are a number of useful insurance schemes and policies for owners.
Payment Protection plans have been developed to protect private drivers and business users against some of the uncertainties in life, which could limit their ability to maintain payments on a SEAT Finance agreement. Three plans are available:
- Bronze - Life, Accidental Death & Critical Illness.
- Silver - Life, Accidental Death, Critical Illness, Accident & Sickness.
- Gold - Life, Accidental Death, Critical Illness, Accident / Sickness and Unemployment.
GAP insurance is designed to protect the investment you have made when purchasing your SEAT. GAP covers the difference between the amount paid by your motor insurer and either the outstanding balance of your finance agreement, or the cash purchase price paid if your vehicle is stolen or and written off.
